Crunchies Food Company Receives
Business Achievement Award

(Santa Barbara, CA) Crunchies Food Company has been awarded the Business Achievement Award for 2002 in the Product Merit Category. The Product Merit Award, given by the Nutrition Business Journal, recognizes businesses for outstanding achievement in the nutrition industry.

The Nutrition Business Journal, a prestigious publication in the natural food industry, examined nearly one hundred firms nominated for the award and chose only the firms that were truly worthy of recognition. The Product Merit Awards are for companies that have displayed innovation or initiative in launching or revamping products.

Thousand Oaks based Crunchies Food Company has demonstrated innovation and initiative with its comprehensive line of freeze-dried fruits and vegetables called Crunchies. Crunchies are all-natural, high in fiber, contain no salt, added sugar, or preservatives, and contain virtually no fat or calories. They come in nine fruit, two vegetable, and three organic varieties. Some of these include Roasted Mixed Veggies, Tropical Fruit, Edamame, Mango and Strawberry.

Crunchies Food Company freeze dries their Crunchies by placing individually frozen fruits and vegetables in a refrigerated vacuum chamber that draws out 97% of the moisture, which gives them their crunchy texture. This process also allows fruits and vegetables to retain their flavor and many beneficial nutrients, unlike conventional heat drying methods. This makes fruit and vegetables delightfully crunchy and fun to eat. Crunchies can be stored for up to nine months using this freeze drying process, without the addition of preservatives.

Crunchies were developed with a strong culinary background and a commitment to nutritious and delicious foods. “I wanted to create a line of food that would not only taste good, but would be good for people too. I wanted to use my knowledge as a chef and the techniques I knew to make healthy food,” states Brien Seay, accomplished chef and Founder of the Crunchies Food Company.

Fruit and Veggie Crunchies can be conveniently eaten as an all-around snack or for toppings on salads, soups, cereal, baked potatoes, omelets, and in a number of recipes. Crunchies are drawing a large fan base among snack enthusiasts, weight conscious consumers, kids, and parents.
